How to resolve user invitation errors
When adding team members to your organization in expoze, you may occasionally encounter error notifications during the invitation process. These errors occur when the system detects an existing account record associated with the entered email address. Understanding how user identifiers work allows you to quickly bypass these conflicts or route the request for administrative resolution.
Strategic value
Maintaining accurate workspace memberships ensures secure asset distribution and clean access governance across your team. Resolving account invitation conflicts promptly prevents disruption to onboarding while keeping your enterprise workspace structured.
How to resolve user invitation errors
- Log into your expoze workspace and navigate to Account settings.
- Select the Users tab and click Add user.
- Enter the email address of the user you want to invite.
If an error message appears after submitting, follow the resolution steps for the specific error below.
"A user with email-address already exists"
This error indicates that the email address is already registered as an active user within your current organization workspace.
- Check your existing member list under Account settings > Users to verify if the account is already active.
- If you need to create a secondary account for testing or role separation using the same inbox, use an email alias. Add a
+symbol followed by numbers or words before the@symbol (for example,user+1@company.com). - Enter the alias into the Add user field and send the invitation. All notifications will arrive in the primary inbox while expoze recognizes it as a distinct account profile.
"A user with email-address already exists in another organization"
This error occurs when the email address is already registered to a separate expoze organization, such as a standalone Freemium account or a different company workspace.
- If the user requires a separate account profile for your organization, invite them using an email alias (for example,
user+expoze@company.com) via Add user. - If the user previously created an independent account that should be merged or moved into your corporate account, contact our customer support team to request an account transfer.
💡Pro Tip
Using email aliases (
name+role@company.com) is a simple way for administrators to test specific workspace permissions or manage multi-role access without creating additional corporate email inboxes.
