How to upload media and run predictions

Running a prediction in expoze involves uploading static assets to a project folder and processing them through our neural network to generate visual attention heatmaps. The Media Viewer allows you to generate heatmaps, review predicted visual focus, and optimize layout elements before publishing your design.

Strategic value

Structuring your design assets into dedicated folders streamlines file management across team projects. Evaluating visual hierarchy directly after upload provides immediate, data-driven feedback on whether key elements, such as call to action buttons or logos, capture human visual attention.

How to create a folder and upload media

  1. Log in to your expoze account.
  2. Click Create folder to establish a new directory for your project assets.
  3. Open your newly created folder and click Upload.
  4. Select your JPG or PNG files from your computer, or drag them directly into the upload area.
  5. Wait for the upload to complete until a green checkmark appears next to each file.
  6. Close the uploader window to view your uploaded media items inside the folder.

How to run a visual attention prediction

Once your file is uploaded, follow these steps to generate a heatmap prediction:

  1. Click the media item you want to analyze to open it in the Media Viewer.
  2. Click Create new heatmap in the top left corner to open the heatmap configuration menu.
  3. Choose your preferred visualization style, such as the Normal preset, or configure custom heatmap parameters.
  4. Click Create heatmap to send your image to the neural network for processing.
  5. Review the new heatmap entry generated under your original file name in the left menu bar.
  6. Wait a few seconds for the Media Viewer to automatically refresh and display your generated heatmap overlay.
  7. Evaluate the visual focus areas on your asset and refine your layout design if necessary.

💡Pro Tip

After generating your initial heatmap, evaluate your primary call to action against surrounding background elements. If your key messaging does not attract high attention, adjust your visual contrast or element size in your primary design tool, re-upload the file, and run another prediction to verify the improvement.
